“Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you.” – Deuteronomy 31:6′
“No Need To Fear”
The announcement said, “A clip board is being passed. Please sign up to write a Lenten devotional.” We had been away the previous two Sundays so maybe, just maybe, all the slots would be filled when the clip board reached me. Not the case. As I flipped through the sign-up pages lots of spaces were still open. But many others had already committed to writing a devotional. Why was I so hesitant? In my heart I knew there was no greater gift than sharing God’s love…but what would I write?
As I turned back to the front page I noticed an opening between two dear friends. The day after Sue Moore (my new friend) and the day before Ruth Smith ((my very 1st friend in Millville) was open. Placing my name between them felt so secure, like I was surrounded by their love and support.
And that reminded me how God wants to be that faithful friend who surrounds me and supports me with His love. He wants to go with me and be a part of every decision and challenge I face. So before I rush ahead, each day I need to pause and look around. Where am I placing myself? Am I walking with God? Am I looking to Jesus? Am I in God’s word? Only then will I feel safe and secure and have nothing to fear.
Thank you Jesus that you never leave my side. Help me to choose to look to You always.
